About Max Overton
Max Overton is an author specializing in historical fiction, though he is starting to explore other genres.
His first book, Lion of Scythia, (an EPPIE finalist in 2001) deals with conflicts between the Macedonian Empire of Alexander the Great and the tribes on the borders of his realm. The second book in this trilogy, The Golden King, won a 2005 EPPIE and the third and final book of this series, Funeral in Babylon, won a 2006 EPPIE.
Born in Malaysia to English parents, Max has traveled extensively, living in England, Germany and Jamaica before settling down in New Zealand. Moving to Australia, Max took up a position teaching at James Cook University. He met Ariana in Australia and, after two years exploring the outback, the tropical rainforests, and New Guinea, they moved to the United States where they continued to write, side-by-side.
The two authors teamed up to write a paranormal adventure trilogy on the Australian mysteries. The result is the Glass House trilogy. The third
volume in the trilogy, Looking Glass, was lauded by reviewers as 'the Australian Jurassic Park.'
Now back in Australia, following the sudden death of Ariana, Max has completed a horror novel, A Cry of Shadows, and is working on a five part historical based on the Amarnan Kings of Egypt’s 18th dynasty. True to his desire to explore other genres, Max is planning forays into fantasy, science fiction, non-fiction, murder mysteries, and a western.

What does an assistant dog trainer in L.A., a team roper who competed in pro rodeos, a woman who was the only female to ride a classic Harley Flathead Hog with the Hells Angels, a professional horse trainer, and a database creator who lectured CEOs, have in common with a comedy radio show hostess in Australia, author, artist, gardener and lover of ferrets?
Always versatile, Ariana Overton led an action-packed life that spanned continents and countries. Traveling around the U.S., Australia and New Guinea, meeting exciting people, experiencing exotic lands and cultures, gave Ari, a diverse catalog of characters, settings and storylines her writing can't help but reflect. After traveling to Australia to research a novel, she met Max Overton, her soulmate, husband, best friend, and writing partner.
Her genres and cross-genre novels are as eclectic as the author—murder mysteries (Trapdoor, The Devil is in the Details—EPPIE finalist 2001 and Frankfurt nominee), Time Travel Thriller (Tapestry—EPPIE finalist in 2000), Action/Adventure (Glass House, A Glass Darkly, and Looking Glass—EPPIE finalists in 2001 and 2002] and A Gift for Roo (children's picture book—inducted into the children's eBook Hall of Fame).
She was one of five finalists for the 2002 INDIE Graphic Artist Achievement award, nominated by three publishing houses, and was consistently top ten in the Preditors & Editors graphic artist polls.
