Book Five of the Castaways in Time Series
Could the future of technology they'd brought to the past withstand the challenge of creatures out of legend?
The land of the gods
According to American Indian legend was a place of plenty, peopled by strange and deadly creatures. And as Bass Foster's fellow castaways in time struggled to save the Indian tribes from Spanish invaders and the perils of their depleted land, it was only natural that they use the air cars and matter projectors that had been left by travelers from a future beyond their own to explore the forbidden lands.
But what awaited them was a horror even modern weapons of war might not be able to defeat, a menace which must never be set free to wreak destruction on mortal lands!
And back in Ireland, Bass found himself hailed by the warring clans as a kingmaker, but as his reputation grew his danger did, too, for the High King would let no man or legend come between him and his plans for conquest.

When legends stalk—
Arsen was bending to slice off a knob of rock when he heard a faint noise that seemed to emanate from somewhere behind and above him, and at the same time a stench registered in his nostrils. It was a terrible stench, reminding him of corpses rotting in the sun.
Whirling about, he spied pure horror crouching on a ledge some five feet above him. Man-shaped in some ways, the thing was squatting on its heels, glaring down at Arsen with slitted eyes. Its arms were overlong and as hairy as all the rest of its thick, massive body, except for its face and slight projecting, long-fanged muzzle. The creature's upper canine teeth were at least two inches in length.
Working in the heat, Arsen had left his shirt, pistol, and all other weapons back in the carrier. Slowly he began to back away form the beast above him. But he knew he would never reach the carrier's safety before this creature of nightmare attacked...
